In Dec, USAT team + I ventured to Wall Street to learn more about Emma’s upbringing, career, and history of civic participation. As founder + CEO of Murmuration, a nonprofit connecting grassroots orgs with access to voter information, she works on local and nationwide levels to help communities build their own power. When editor Alexa Ard called me about this shoot, she spoke about wanting to show Emma as a strong leader, but also look for things that could speak to who she is. I found Emma to be warm, gracious, and incredibly proud to be a mother.
