Bio:

Emma Rose Milligan (b.1993) is a commercial, editorial, and fine art photographer based in NYC. She received both her BFA with honors in Photo & Video (2015) and MFA in Photo, Video & Related Media (2018) from School of Visual Arts. Her editorial writing and visual commissions can be seen in Autostraddle, Barron’s, Bloomberg Businessweek, Bon Appétit, Newsday, The New York Times, NY Mag, USA Today, Vogue, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and more. She is an Eddie Adams Workshop XXXVII alum.

As an artist, her personal practice explores visual media theory and understanding “looking” vs. being “looked at.” Her work has been published internationally by Parisian based magazine, Courrier International, and London based book publisher, Hoxton Mini Press. Her series Mirror, Mirror is an ADC 104 Bronze Cube Winner, AP 40 Chosen Series Winner, and has been featured by Worlds Through Minds and Float Magazine. Her work on the $12,000 Eye Color Surgery for WSJ is an ADC 104 Merit Winner, and AP 41 Chosen Winner.

Her commercial work focuses in product, lifestyle, and brand activations for clients like Drumstick, Fanatics, goodr, Google, MOSCOT, Serta Mattresses, Sotheby’s, Spectrum, The Hampton Grocer, Slice, The Topps Company, Vestiaire Collective, Warby Parker, and more.

As a way to give back, she is a Mentor with NYC Salt, which pairs working photographers to NYC high school students, encouraging their pursuit of photography as a creative outlet and future career.
