The Lamp Club, a neo-luddite group of NYC youth, are on a mission to reject modern culture + change their peer’s relationships to tech. By hosting IRL events that parody modernity, the group lives somewhere between activism, perofrmance art, and old school NYC DIY.

Over several months, reporter TM Brown and I ventured to the group’s outings to see what all the buzz was about. The first, a FREE POPS rally, was hosted in Midtown to highlight how public plazas are *still* public. The second, a S.H.I.T.P.H.O.N.E rally walked past Tesla and Apple stores to a very public “device execution,” donning gnome hats. It was a blast.

Many thanks to Christy Harmon for the call + fabulous edit!!! Many videos are included in the article link, too!!
